Prohibited and Restricted Items

Before making a purchase, we strongly recommend that you check with us to ensure the items are eligible for import into your destination country. Each country has its own regulations, and certain products may be subject to restrictions or outright bans. For clarification and assistance, please contact our support team.


Restricted and Banned Items

The following items are not permitted for shipping under any circumstances due to legal, safety, or regulatory reasons:

  • Passports, currency notes and coins
  • Bearer (uncrossed) cheques or drafts
  • Precious stones, natural or artificial (imitation jewelry with purchase invoice is permitted)
  • Arms, ammunition, explosives, and military-grade equipment
  • Dry ice and flammable adhesives
  • Infectious substances and magnetized materials
  • Radioactive materials or items with strong magnetic fields
  • Pornographic content and Sodexo passes
  • Currency or negotiable instruments in bearer form
  • Aerosol cans, acrylic paints, gums, and other flammable substances
  • Indian postal articles or items violating the Indian Postal Act of 1898
  • Items classified as dangerous goods under IATA guidelines (listed below)

Food & Personal Care Items – Country-Specific Guidelines

Non-Vegetarian & Personal Items

  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste – permitted
  • Lipsticks and lip balms – permitted
  • Ayurvedic Medicines – Only churnams, lehyams, jams, and liquid forms up to 250ml each are allowed. Capsules and tablets are strictly prohibited.
  • Allopathic Medicines – Only vitamin supplements in powder, jam, or liquid forms (up to 250ml each) allowed. Capsules and tablets are not allowed.

Dairy and Homemade Foods

  • Ghee and milk powder – may be permitted; please consult us for destination-specific rules
  • Homemade food to Australia – strictly not allowed. Only factory-packed, branded products with ISI certification are allowed.
  • Soapnuts – cannot be shipped to Australia.
  • Homemade food to other countries – allowed only if shelf life is at least 22 days.

Liquids and Oils

  • Branded oils with manufacturing labels – allowed in 250ml bottles, up to 10 bottles per shipment
  • Other liquids (e.g., shampoo, body wash, sauces, rose water, serum, cosmetics) – allowed only if branded and labeled, in bottles up to 250ml, max 5 per shipment
  • Perfumes or sprays containing alcohol – prohibited
  • Any perishable or semi-liquid items – must have a minimum shelf life of 22 days

Machinery & Electronics

  • Used electronics must be free from personal data or software. We are not responsible for loss of data.
  • Machinery components containing oil, grease, fuel, or batteries are prohibited.

Dangerous Goods – As Defined by IATA

According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the following categories are considered dangerous goods and are strictly prohibited:

  • Class 1: Explosives
  • Class 2: Gases (compressed, liquefied, or dissolved)
  • Class 3: Flammable liquids
  • Class 4: Flammable solids, substances liable to spontaneous combustion
  • Class 5: Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides
  • Class 6: Toxic and infectious substances
  • Class 7: Radioactive material
  • Class 8: Corrosives
  • Class 9: Miscellaneous dangerous substances (e.g., strong magnets)

Additional Restricted Classifications

Items that may require import licenses, special documentation, or may cause customs delays include (but are not limited to):

  • Acidic or caustic materials
  • Combustible or inflammable substances
  • Communicable or infectious items
  • Compressed gases
  • Corrosive substances
  • Poisons or toxic materials
  • Radioactive or refrigerated items
  • Volatile chemicals and powders

Customers are solely responsible for ensuring that restricted or prohibited items are not sent to DeshSe.Shop facility. It is your duty to comply with applicable import/export regulations and laws of both India and the destination country. DeshSe.Shop will not be liable for any consequences arising from the shipment of prohibited items, nor for the loss of software or data stored on electronic devices.
